THE DETAILS:

1. Tuesday June 8th 7:00pm – we will be  having our Final Concert featuring all MIS Bands.  Location:  HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA              Gr. 8/9s show up at 6pm.  Gr. sevens arrive at 6:20

2. Thursday June  3rd – Recruiting Tour: the band will be heading out for our annual recruiting tour visiting Cardigan (10:30am) and Montague Cons. at 1:30pm.  Gr. 7s will join us for the afternoon show only.

3. Friday June 11 –  Grade 7 Band Day – our Grade 7s will be participating in a special day of sharing music with other grade 7 bands (Souris, Queen Charlotte, Morell).  We perform in the morning, grab a bite, head to Dooley’s for some pizza/pool, then go swimming at the Pool.  (9am-3pm)

4. Grade 9 Closing – Thursday June 24 – The Gr. 7/8 band performs at this concert – 7:00pm – 8:30pm at MIS.

Thanks to all that volunteered, brought in sweets, lights, extension cords. The Coffee house was a huge success! We raised just over 1400 dollars towards our band fund for next year!

Hi everyone, it’s Coffee house time – we need some major parent help to pull off this awesome night. Basically, the night is an amazing chance for students to show off some of their talent (and raise money for the band program – new instruments and the like).

We need parents to help with set up/tear down and we need lights (tall lamps, small lamps, etc..) and extension cords/power bars (the longer the cords, the better)

Money and forms are due on Friday April 23rd. Cheques are preferable to cash. Please make cheques out to MIS.

The Band Trip Fee now includes a sit down meal at Montanas Restaurant and a pizza party.

Prices are as follows:

Jazz & Concert Band – $275
Concert Band only - $260
(additional to this, you are responsible for covering the cost of 7 meals)

(Please subtract any deposit or poinsettia money – I have a record of this if you aren’t sure how much you raised)

Example Situation: Your child is in Jazz Band so their total is $275. If they have already paid a deposit of $50 and also raised $25 in poinsettias, they now only owe $200.

Payment is due on or before Friday April 23

This year we are so pumped to be having Tim Chaisson performing at our annual coffee house on May 18th.  The show starts at 7pm and will be about 2 hours.  The first half will feature student musicians and the 2nd half will feature Tim!

Who can wait?  It’s going to be great. 

We’ll need a lot of parent and student support to help turn our gym into a coffee house.  We need lights, (tall floor lamps are best) and help moving tables and chairs to transform our gym into a relaxed performance venue!

The trip to Atlantic Band Fest is fast approaching.  The busses are booked, the hotel confirmed, the registration fees are in. 

Trip Price - I still have a few loose ends to wrap up before I can reveal the final exact cost, but with some raw number cunching it looks like we’re going to be costing very close to $250 per student.  That does not include meals.  This does include a movie, 2nights @ the hotel, Trius bus, swimming, go-karts, festival registration, a dance, and a concert. 

I hope to have the final price by this Thursday.

Hi again, tomorrow the jazz band is traveling to Colonel Gray High School in Ch’town. The bussing is as follows: – bus is leaving MIS at 11am and returning at 3pm.

We’re playing at 12:30pm if any parents would like to come and hear us – Free admission. There is also an evening concert at 7:30 at the Gray featuring pianist Ron Petrides and the Charlottetown Jazz Ensemble. If any students would like to attend the entire jazz day and stay in town for the concert there will be school bands playing until 5pm. Parent supervision would be required in order to stay at the Gray after MIS officially leaves on the bus.

The concert costs $5.00 for students.

MIS Jazz band will be heading into Ch’town on Thursday. We’ll be traveling by school bus. We’ll be leaving at 11:15am Pick up time TBA. Students need to bring a lunch and some snacks for later in the afternoon.
